Work in Progress

Dear Joy,

You are a work in progress, as most people are in life. There are many things you wish you could change, about yourself, about your situation and of course about the way you think. There is a difference between forgiving and being strict with yourself and many times you end up at both extremes and you feel confused about which is better, which you should strive towards. You know you should be happy and you hate that you are not and even more so when you realise you have no reason to not be.

There is a constant nagging in your mind, that tells you what you are doing wrong. It doesn’t leave you alone and there is no peace. The things you find the most happiness in you think is probably worth nothing, nothing in this world. Your dreams are great and you are constantly waiting for an amazing future to drop from the sky, but at the same time, you feel like you will amount to nothing.

But tonight, for the first time in a long time there is a different feeling and a timely reminder. So I’m writing it down so that you will always remember this and you can come back to it time and time again in your low points in life. Yes, you are a work in progress, and there are many things you wish you could change. But look at how far you have come and the steps you have taken to get here and know that you have taken steps forward and not backward. In the past, you may have seemed more confident, more self-assured, but that was a facade, even denial. The fact that those walls have been torn down and you are vulnerable doesn’t mean you have become weak, but rather that you are strong enough to face your deepest self.

Yes, there is a nagging in your mind that tells you all the things you are doing wrong daily, but there are many things you are also doing right. Bad habits take time to change, be patient. You are training your will, your patience, and your discipline. Are these not things you desire and aspire for? You are blessed to be able to train these traits of yours.

Your dreams are great yet you think you will achieve nothing. Stop thinking about the outcome, rather remember the process. Remember the time you gave your 100% and the sense of satisfaction that followed after. Stop living your life with expectations, rather live it with hard work and fulfillment knowing that you gave it your best shot. You are so worth it. You are so willing to learn and I love that about you. There are so many things to be thankful for. Remember your abundance and not your lackings. The people who are in your life, the opportunities you have and the changes you get to make in the lives of the people around you. I am so immensely proud of you for taking up challenges you were afraid of facing. Doing things because you want to and not because of what others have to say. Starting your blog and YouTube channel, joining RAGcomm, starting your carousell account, working at Naiise, joining Makeup and Design club, joining polo etc, all these things make you who you are and I am so proud of who you are. For the times you have cried yourself to sleep, cried when you looked into the mirror and cried because you felt small, please remember that you are enough. And I am without a doubt so lucky to have you.

You, are a masterpiece- in progress.

Love,

Joy
