KOREA Skincare Haul

I actually can’t remember the last time I blogged about something beauty related and to be honest, it feels a little foreign now. I can’t even remember if I used to start my posts with greetings to my audience or not? Nonetheless, I’m really excited get back into it and share some of the loot I brought back from Korea on my recent trip. This haul includes skincare products from Too Cool for School, COSRX, Missha, Skinfood, Laneige, Banila. co, Nature Republic, The Face Shop, Olive Young, Holika Holika and Innisfree. This post and YouTube video is all about skincare, but the next 2 upcoming videos will be on makeup and fashion so do watch this space if you’re interested in those as well!

As you can probably imagine, we have a lot to get through, so let’s get started.

As I mentioned in the video, I have some really good memories with Too Cool For School simply because it’s one of the first brands that led me to Korean Beauty as a whole. In fact, I have an old blog post where I wrote about some of the products I tried which you can view here. Naturally, when I went to Korea, I wanted to check out the actual shop and see what they had to offer!

Too cool for school haul and review

Egg Mousse Soap

A foaming cleanser that lathers like a marshmallow! I’ve actually used one full bottle of this already and decided to purchase another since I do like it. It smells nice and leaves your face feeling soft and clean. When I first placed it on my face and rubbed it in, it felt like the foam would never disappear. But as you continuously rub it (preferably in circular motions), the foam will completely disappear into your skin and then you just wash the product all off!

Egg Mousse Pack

This pack is a tightening and brightening mask. It has the same texture and consistency as the egg mousse soap and the same goes for the way it is used. Rub the product all over your face until completely absorbed and then wash it all off!

Pumpkin Sleeping Pack

This is a new product which I’ve never seen or used before. I bought one to try as I love Too Cool For School products as a whole and feel the need to try out everything from their range (excessive, I know).

O2 Bubble Cleansing Pack

This product is also new to the market and I’ve never seen it before as well. I bought it to see if I like it, same as the Pumpkin Sleeping Pack!

Egg Mousse Body Oil

I bought this oil simply because I used to use baby oil on my body right after I shower when my body was still wet before towel drying myself clean, and I wanted an upgrade. Unfortunately, this formula, since it is a foam, is really light and is better used alone rather than on the wet body. I also do not appreciate the smell that much and think it’s a little sickly, but overall, it is still an alright product.

Egg Remedy Hair Pack

This hair pack replaces the conditioner step in the shower and is used right after shampooing. It’s said to repair damaged and dry hair and is recommended to be used for at least a full week in order to achieve results.

Egg Cream Mask (Hydration/ Pore tightening/ Firming)

I love these masks. I’ve owned many packs of the hydrating masks and when they released the pore tightening and firming one, I wanted to get my hands on them. They’re not cheap but they’re also not meant for daily use, but rather a weekly skin energiser and nourisher.

COSRX is a relatively new brand to me which I only discovered fairly recently when doing my research on what to buy on my trip to Korea. Many Korea based YouTubers rave about these products because it’s great for acne-prone, sensitive skin! I already own the Advanced Snail 92 All in one Cream and use it every night before bed as a night moisturizer. I decided to purchase some of their other best-selling items. You can find this brands in Aland in Myeongdong!

COSRX haul and review

Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser

I bought the Low pH Good Morning Cleanser because I just ran out of my Too Cool For School Egg Mousse Soap and wanted to try something new. I also heard that it’s really gentle and so far I really like it! It doesn’t leave my skin squeaky clean which I don’t like because it means my skin is being stripped of its natural moisture and it smells like tea tree!

One Step Pimple Clear Pad

This is an all-time best seller in COSRX. Apparently, it’s great for skin with acne and moisturizes while cleaning the dirt from your face. It can even remove makeup!

Centella Blemish Ampule

Ive never actually heard of anyone talking about this product but it intrigued me when I saw it simply because I get breakouts when I’m stressed and my skin is easily irritated. This ampule is to be used like a serum, after toner and before moisturizer and is supposed to calm irritated and stressed out skin.

Acne Pimple Master Patch

I bought this because you can never have too many. I go through these acne patches so crazily quickly I thought, why not stock up on more? You simply stick them on a pimple that has puss in then and sleep with them on. The next day, the patch will absorb all the fluid and the pimple will subside.

I’ve used only the Line & Friends range from Missha before and I did not like it. So I wasn’t particular interested in this brand until I started to do my Korean skincare and beauty research and found out that there were actually many good reviews and quality products from this brand, so I decided to check it out!

Missha Haul and review

Time Revolution Clear Toner

This is a best-selling product in Missha and once again I’ve heard tons of people rave about it. I’m currently still getting through my Aloe BHA toner from Benton and will definitely be trying this out once I’m done with that.

All Around Safe Block Daily Sun 50+

As with a lot of my other skincare and makeup products, I’ve actually ran out of them before going to Korea but I put purchasing anything on hold because I knew I was going to go insane when I reach the land of all things beauty related. The same went for sunblock and I needed to stock up. I didn’t have any specific brand in mind so I just picked up this Missha one which I thought looked good. They came in a whole range of different types of suncare and in different colours as well (the packaging was really what got to me, let’s be real). I picked up the most basic daily one!

Skinfood Haul and review

Strawberry Black Sugar Mask Wash Off

Skinfood is another brand that is relatively new to me. I’ve seen it around before but never really interested me that much. I recently bought the black sugar scrub and absolutely loved it so I wanted to get the strawberry one to try!

Laneige water sleeping mask review

Water Sleeping Mask

I bought this because of the never ending talk and hype. FOMO got to me.

Water Bank Eye Gel

I really needed an eye cream because my eye area has been starting to itch and flake because of dryness. I’ve tried a couple of eye creams which all seemed really thick and I didn’t like the way they felt on my face. I’ve tried this water bank eye gel for a couple days now and so far it’s really moisturizing without being sticky. I can foresee myself repurchasing it again!

Banila co. haul and review

Clean it Zero Oil Cleansing Balm

Once again, I bought this for the hype because literaly everyone has something good to say about this product from Banila.co. Recently, I’ve also been really into double cleansing which means I cleanse my face with an oil based facial wash before going in with a normal facial wash. This ensures all the makeup has been thoroughly broken down and rinsed off as well as ensures the normal cleanser does not remove the natural moisture in my face. I just ran out of my Innisfree green tea oil cleanser and have started to use this instead!

Nature republic Haul and review

Aloe Vera Gel

A standard post-sun necessity, I use this when I get sunburnt and have been doing so for a long time! I also use it when I have a rash of am basically just drying out but don’t want to use a body butter or heavy cream.

Face shop haul and review

Foot Peeling Mask

If it weren’t for the fact that I stayed over at my friend’s place the night before flying off to Korea, I would probably never have gotten this. My friend was raving about how good it is and how much her feet peels when she uses it, so much so that I decided to try it for myself! Be sure to check out the video to see what it looks like when I have it on. It’s ridiculously entertaining.

Olive young haul and review

Unix Mini curling iron

Alright, so here’s where I own up to a mini unintentional lie that I made in the video. This hair curler I actually purchased from BOOM apothecary in Myeongdong rather than Olive Young. Olive Young do, however, stock this range of mini Unix hair products but they were completely sold out at the 4 to 5 Olive Young stores we went to. We chanced upon BOOM apothecary because we were actually looking for another brand of products and found it there! It’s the cutest range of hair tools you’ll ever lay eyes on, I was so tempted to get the mini hair dryer as well.

April Skin Turn-Up Hair Colour Treatment

This is a new product from April Skin that I wanted to try because the pink that I put in my hair washed out so quickly. Apparently, it’s completely free from harmful chemicals that can damage your hair and can last between 1-2 weeks depending on how often you wash your hair.

Nexcare Blemish Clear Cover

This is simlar to the Acne patches I bought from COSRX and I’ve heard a lot of hype about this product so I had to try it? As expected with every other product featured in this haul.

Holika Holika is a brand not available in Singapore, as is COSRX and Banila.co, and at first look, I wouldn’t know how to shop in there for all its gimmicky packaging. I was, however, recommended the black head removal patches and went in to take a look.

Holika Holika Haul and review

Face masks:

Lemon- Brightening

Acai Berry – Antioxidants

Green Tea- Cooling

 Cucumber- Cooling

Avocado- Nourishing

Damask Rose- Brightening/ Nourishing

Rice- Nourishing

I’ve actually never heard of anyone talking about these masks before but the packaging completely made me want to buy them. I’ve tried the green tea one already and I have to say that I’m currently not a fan. I just hope the rest will be better!

Pigs Clear 3-step Black Head Removal Strips

The same friend who introduced me to the feet peeling mask introduced me to this and I absolutely fell in love. There’s nothing quite so satisfying as peeling off blackhead from one’s nose. This 3 step blackhead removal kit takes about 40 minutes in total. It starts with a patch to open your pores in step one, to remove the blackhead in step 2, and finally to close your pores in step 3.

TIP: For the 10 masks that I bought, I actually bought them in Myeongdong at 10 for 10000 won (abt 10 for $12 SGD) and when I went to the Ewha outlet a couple days later, they were selling them at 10 + 10 for 10000 won, essentially half price! Do head down to Ewha to look at the cosmetics before going elsewhere because Ewha is full of good finds. Myeongdong is extremely over crowded and is filled with tourists.

Innisfree is a brand Singaporeans are likely to be familiar with. It’s probably the most well-known affordable Korean skincare brand here. I, however, do not like it very much because of a previous bad experience where using their products that have seawater in them made me itch and break out. However, I have tried their green tea oil cleanser which I’ve mentioned before and enjoyed it very much. I concluded that it’s probably the seawater content that I’m possibly allergic to because I have had severe breakouts from going to the sea before, which you can see and hear more about here. Thus when I saw these masks that were fruits based, I thought they were really cute and bought 3 just to try!

Innisfree Haul and review

It’s real squeeze mask- Strawberry, Blackberry, Pomegranate

Looking at the face masks I bought now, it seems that I have a thing for food related masks. In fact, I actually made a video where I tried using food to make homemade beauty products before! I’ll be sure to leave a review on them when I’m done so do wait for them and follow me on instagram so you’ll be updated!

That’s all for this post, but there’ll be makeup and clothing coming up next so keep your eyes peeled! Hope this gave you a better idea of the things available in Korea and some of the talked about hype products. Do leave me a comment telling me what other Korean skincare you want to try or what are some of the products you cannot live without, I would love to know!
