Shiseido makeup haul review

Shiseido: Eye curler and lipstick review

If you’ve seen my makeup and beauty haul as well as Nars cosmetics review, you’d know I also purchased some items from Shiseido and Majolica and Majorca recently. All this while I’ve associated Shiseido with my mother, skincare and beauty products for more mature skin and ages. Their packaging looks pretty unexciting and basic as well and never appealed to me. But having tried these few items our, I found myself really enjoying them after all! So here’s a very short but sweet review of the couple of items I picked up.

Shiseido is a Japanese multinational personal care company, that basically dabbles in everything skin care, hair care, cosmetics and fragrance related. It is one of the oldest cosmetics companies in the world which is reflected by their attention to detail as well as high quality products which probably translates to their ability to last so long.

Eyelash curler

The 1st thing I picked up from Shisiedo was this eyelash curler. I’ve tried the tweezers from Shiseido and my mother previously had one of these from them as well and they’re great. I tried this and absolutely loved it! I bought one for only $5 and they work so much better than my Sephora ones which I bought for more than $20. I did however, sell 2 to a Carousell buyer who did not like them very much. She mentioned that did they didn’t curl her lashes at all! That came as a big surprise to me as I personally love it and think it does an amazing job.

Next, I bought 2 lip laquers from Shiseido. These lipsticks were running out fast and I actually bought the last one for one of the shades (can’t remember which one)! I lucked out, but not the girl next to me who was trying it out and about to purchase one for herself. These lipsticks are lip creams which stay nicely while not being drying. I do find them the slightest bit sticky which I don’t personally fancy and would prefer it if they were completely matte. But then again I think the colour pay off is good and for $20 each, they’re a steal.

Shade RD529

I personally prefer this shade to the one below, a darker shade of purply-pink. It’s a berry tone which I tend to sway towards when picking lipsticks and would definitely keep it as a staple for everyday wear in my makeup pouch.

Tip: Finding the perfect lipstick takes a lot of trial and and error. Just because you may not think you look good in a certain red lipstick, doesn’t mean you should stay clear of reds forever! You just have to find the one that’s perfect for your skin tone (mine’s NYX soft matte lip cream- monte carlo)!

That being said, there will be certain tones and colours that look better on you. I know that browns don’t suite me (though sometimes I screw the haters and wear it anyway) and baby pinks make me look like a have a disease.

Shade V1324

To be honest, the main reason I chose this colour was because the sales lady had it on her lips and it looked great. It appeared quite a bit darker so I was really surprised to see how light and vibrant it was when I 1st swatched it. I was a little afraid I wouldn’t be able to pull it off and it’d make me look weird, but it does seem less bright and crazy when on the lips so I can actually see myself wearing this lip colour after all.

Hope you enjoyed reading this really short but hopefully useful review and will try out some of these products as well! Do let me know what you think of them and what other products from Shiseido I should try! Till next time xx
