A few weeks ago, the lovely people over at Selva Foods reached out to me and asked if I wanted to be sent some samples of their frozen acai packs. As some of you would know, I already make my own acai bowls at home using acai powder. You can find the recipe here. But I’ve personally never tried using an acai blend to make my acai smoothie bowls so of course I couldn’t turn it down seeing how Selvafoods supply acai blends to Afterglow and Superloco which are 2 of my favourite go-to acai places! They sent me a list of ways I can consume their acai, of which includes blending it with coconut water, bananas, berries or even eating it straight out of the tub, but I decided to take things into my own hands and come up with my own concoction.
So to make this really refreshing berry acai bowl, you will need:
1 Cup mixed berries
1 Tbsp cacao/cocoa powder
2 heaping ice-cram scoops of Selva foods Acai blend
A splash of coconut water (not featured)
For the toppings, I went for a banana, sliced into small pieces, coconut flakes, chia seeds and some amazing graze peanut butter chocolate chips granola! But you can have fun with this and top your acai off with pretty much anything you desire.
Toss all the ingredients into a high-powered blender until a thick, frothy consistency is obtained.
Tip: Using a high-powered blender is important as this is thicker than a smoothie and is much harder to blend.
Pour your mixture into a bowl and dress it with your favourite toppings!

The definite plus point of using an acai blend over a smoothie pack is the abilty to create more exciting flavours and blends. Using the powder usually limits you to using the same ingredients to replicate the same consistent acai smoothie bowl taste. It is also easier to replicate the frothy, icy consistency of the acai that you often find in shops when using a acai blend. Do check out Selva foods as they do delivery of 2 500 ml acai blends tubs for $25. A pretty good deal in my opinion!
Hope all you Acai lovers enjoyed this post, and have a great time with your guilt-free indulgence.
